CRA- Board Orientation
On 13th January 2026, the Cannabis Regulatory Authority successfully held an internal Orientation Workshop for its Board of Directors at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, underscoring its commitment to strong governance, effective oversight, and strategic leadership. The workshop provided a platform for the Board of Directors to gain a shared understanding of their fiduciary roles, statutory mandate, and the Authority’s strategic responsibility in regulating the cannabis sector as a driver of Malawi’s economic transformation.
Discussions emphasised the need to balance economic opportunities with robust regulatory frameworks that safeguard public interest, credibility and sustainability.
In his remarks, Chauncy Mopho Jere the Chairperson called upon the Board of Directors to demonstrate integrity and professionalism, work collaboratively with management and provide clear strategic guidance to ensure the industry develops in a responsible, ethical and nationally beneficial manner.
